Thanks to a joint effort announced Thursday by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, a 1.25 mile trail atop the long-dormant Cochituate Aqueduct can be used by Natick for recreation. The path’s potential is great: once cleared of overgrowth, the trail could link miles of trails in Wellesley, Newton, Natick, and Framingham.

The Friends of MetroFuture kicked off its new walking tour series on July 29 with a look at environmentally sustainable projects around Boston Harbor. With Vivien Li of the Boston Harbor Association as a guide, participants explored the Boston Children's Museum, Atlantic Wharf, the Moakley Courthouse, the Institute for Contemporary Art, Fish Pier, and everything in between.

In August 2010, the Boston Foundation and MAPC released a new report, "Municipal Health Care and the GIC: Success and Limitations," showing that 15 cities and towns that moved into the state’s group health insurance system collectively saved more than $30 million during their first year in the program.
